This sounds a lot like the whole Twitter issue where they messed with MFA, and ruined my ability to login anywhere other than a single laptop (that had an existing token).

So that fixed my Twitter addition - I just stopped using it.

The same will likely happen here - Reddit is going to find out that I'm happy querying for other users's content (from Google/Duck queries) but without Apollo, I'm probably not going to contribute.

sort by: page size:

Deleted my Twitter account since Musk took over and don't intend on getting a new one.

Apart from getting login-walled for threads it also happens quite often that the link simply won't load even the original message, I cannot see what's being discussed and the apps I used to rely on to unroll threads stopped working after the API changes.

It's simply unusable for me and whenever I see a link to Twitter I have to ignore it, as much as the discussion could be interesting there is no way I can participate in it.

Same here... Plus twitter access token revoked.

Can't even view a thread without logging in now, got to hand it to Musk for reducing my Twitter usage from passive to non-existent.

For me, Twitter has died. Because Twitter has refused to present the login page for me for several weeks. Tried several browsers, including the latest ones.

Yes. The Platform Formerly Known as Twitter is now basically unusable if you're not logged in, which is really quite unfortunate.

Interestingly, within a few hours of this post, they seem to have deployed or changed something that has broken most of the site for most users.

This used to happen a long time ago, once in a while with pre-musk twitter, but I don't recall it happening in the past few years.

Same with me. I can't log in to the Twitter Android app anymore.

Twitter's just completely broken for me when logged out (no account, will not get one, unless it is to build a scraper that bypasses the login wall).

In particular, some public safety / emergency response accounts post safety-critical real-time updates. Visiting their pages when not logged in provides data that is years out-of-date.

I'm hoping this causes a rapid exodus and my one use case for twitter goes away.

Twitter no longer shows anything unless you're logged in. Everything just redirects to a login page.

Wait you don’t get the login pop up anymore? I still get it constantly, makes twitter pretty much unusable when not logged in

I now get "Error: that twitter account is already in use." I am using Chrome.

(To the dude downvoting this and other random comments of mine, stay classy!)

On a side note, I haven’t been able to login to Twitter for a long time. Every time I try with email, phone or username it prompts me that they can’t find user. When I search my own username without logging in it just shows up perfectly. The login has been broken for a long while now.. I hope they are tooling away and fixing it, but unsure

Didn't realize the ability to grab a users tweets without being logged in was going away. Time to go fix my code where I was doing that.

I dont know what the hell Twitter is doing, but I simply dont use it anymore. I cannot access this page without logging in:

https://twitter.com/SarahKSilverman

I check it ONCE per day, thats it. and for weeks every time it just prompts me to login. no thanks, done with Twitter.

Good stuff. It seems, login with twitter is broken.

Does this mean they're no longer going to redirect all Twitter Search links for users that aren't logged in? I hate not being able to follow links to Twitter.

Twitter is unable at this point. I deactivated my account just now. Sad but it was becoming an increasingly frustrating experience.

Did they change that thing where they want you to log in in order to be able to see Twitter? That was the reason I used Nitter, but I haven't been getting that login popup lately.

It didn't, and they had to implement very severe rate limiting just to keep it from falling over again.

Now when I open a tweet without being logged in I can't even see any replies.
