FSD, in its current iteration, is not what Musk has promised since 2016. FSD is not autonomous or even remotely close to driverless operation as he's claimed it would be. FSD is ultimately a marketing gimmick.
Ha! Tesla wouldn't like what I have to say about FSD. It's an expensive scam that I strongly recommend you not buy. Other than that it's the best car I've ever owned.
FSD has been sold since... years ago. I don't even remember when they started selling FSD, its just an option on Tesla cars for a long long time now.
That's the thing: the features of this are are named "autopilot" and "full self driving". What do you expect people to do when they spend $5000 or $10,000 on "full self driving" ?
I can’t believe Tesla has gotten away with selling a feature that doesn’t exist, and will never be delivered, on so many cars for so long. Tesla began selling “full self-driving” in October, 2016 and a month later marketed it with (now known to be heavily controlled) video of a car driving itself for two minutes. Owners of those initial cars have probably paid them off by now and still don’t have a feature they were sold.
I think it should be obvious that the FSD thing is and has always been an attempt to boost Tesla's appeal and stock valuation. Right now it really seems like the company is playing chicken with regulators so that they have a plausible target of blame and an excuse for not releasing a feature they claimed was almost ready _years ago_ and sold to people which is quite obviously not even close to ready. It's a pretty common strategy in scams.
Because as much as Tesla marketing wants us to believe, FSD is anything but. Tesla is so ridiculously far behind real AV companies that I must assume that you're a paid shill or an absolute idiot.
FSD as a product is a gimmick. It is an advanced automation but nevertheless a gimmick because driving and sharing the road with humans requires capabilities that synthetic AI has not yet achieved, and there is no clear roadmap on when and how it's going to be achieved. The way FSD is marketed is borderline misrepresentation.
As a FSD purchaser, I can tell you that watching videos do not give you the full experience of sitting in the driver's seat while FSD is on. The amount of times I need to regularly overtake control in both urban and rural environments on simple turns is enough to make me not recommend the FSD option to prospective Tesla buyers. At this point, the way it's marketed, I would lean more towards scam than even gimmick.
There is a very good reason why people don't trust this absolute snake oil in the first place other than it being pushed by Tesla and Elon.
FSD (Fools Self Driving) feature is a complete scam with dangerous and deceptive advertising putting the lives of the driver and others at risk. The Tesla vehicles themselves are not.
