Yeah I think that’s the reason it didn’t happen ;) not saying it’s impossible to make in less than 2kb, but it would have to be around 1kb to make it really worthwhile, so they could squeeze in more content.

sort by: page size:

The total size, although smaller than 10KB, could definitely have been squeezed down much further. But since the limit was 10KB it was hard to find the motivation to do so.

yar, maybe it should've been about js size, ideally closer to the 200kb-of-js club

It does exist, but it's 80MB/s nowadays.

Still surprised there's no intermediate version though. Usually there's one in the 300-500MB, the 90MB is a tiny bit too small.

32kb is nothing these days! Hopefully they have sane caching of their assets, which means it would rarely need to reload the asset.

I notice he said the final product was around 700 megabytes, which is a bit absurd. What could he have done to make the final size more reasonable?

That's exactly what I thought of when I saw this post.

Still astounding they managed to fit so much into 1.44mb!

I think it was way less than that. Wasn't it like ... 2MB?

But only for 8 minutes according to the voice over. Which would come down to 960MB in an ideal scenario (2 MB/s * 8 * 60s).

200KB for the free version seems really small :(

No, it's only ~500KB.

At the expense of unrealistic download size.

At 2MB that is hardly a large file.

To be fair, 194kb is pretty far from "MB's of script downloads".

the minimum was 16KB I think (they used 4116s).

I wonder if the bad performance is due to the <1kb requirement.

5MB seems a bit small, they'd also have lossless copies right?

Yes, then 100KB is usually not enough.
