Sounds like worth it for an “irreparable loss”.

Doesn’t that sound like an unaffordable loss?

An irretrievable loss to whom?

By making the loss irreversible.

This is an incalculable loss.

Financial loss can be pretty emotional.

I wasn’t making a judgement about whether the loss was worth it or not… it might create more value in the long run. Sometimes a short term loss is worth it.

No. For the victim it's still a 100% loss.

It's nice that the rest of the loss can be carried over to future years.

For a net loss?

I would imagine writing the whole thing off as a loss is better from a tax perspective.

It matters very little. They can write off much of this "loss".

True. But they never incur the full extent of the loss. They write it off.

not if you consider the loss to be time served.

Sorry, I'm poor, so I consider $1000 to be a horrific loss. :(

if you've lost 100k, you had 100k to spare. agree it was an expensive lesson.

When you add the lost money from lawsuits, lost value, etc... I'm sure it's much, MUCH more.

Makes sense. The "loss" is the cost of a giant content marketing campaign.

Ok. It was a near total loss. My point stands.

sometimes loss is good
