Pretty ironic that a post about accessible web design is unreadable because of scroll hijacking that makes it constantly jump to the top (at least on mobile).

The way this article scrolljacks on mobile makes it unreadable.

Site scrolling is horribly broken on mobile. I couldn't read beyond 1 paragraph.

No word wrap, horizontal scroll is hijacked and the content goes off screen (Chrome on Android) the topic sounds interesting but the post is unreadable

Thanks for posting, I’m interested in reading it. However, I’m reading the article on my iPhone and the scrolling hijack is really annoying. It scrolls less well than native scrolling and is jerky and makes it difficult to read. Why do people do this with their blogs?

> Scroll-behaviour hijack and unreadable text on mobile?

Ironically, I struggled to read this article on a mobile device (iPhone) because it hijacks the horizontal swiping which occurs while I scrolled and kept redirecting me to a different article.

Very nice post. But whats wrong with the scrolling on that page on mobile devices?

The UX of this blog post on mobile (HTC One M8, kit Kat) forces a horizontal scroll to read all of the page's content.

That website is so broken on mobile. Every 2 seconds something else loads an moves the text away from its current scrollposition.

This is the most annoying mobile scrolling I've ever seen. What could possess anyone to make this? Sorry to be off point, but the scrolling makes it half impossible to read.

I'm sorry, but I took one look at the page, and tried to scroll (on a desktop mind you, other people are complaining about mobile, which I can easily imagine as being 10x worse), and I closed the page.

This is nonsense. I'm aware my browser has a reader mode: I shouldn't have to use it just to be able to read.

The scroll is quite frustrating on mobile.

> Horrible to scroll on mobile as well

That's interesting. I came here to say that it looks and works great on mobile, specifically chrome on android. Sounds like it's wildly inconsistent between devices.

Absolutely infuriating mobile site behavior- try scrolling down just a little, site rips the content across the screen and inserts a garish title bar. Scroll back up just a line and the huge opening title graphic slams down from above. Can I just read this?

I can't scroll on this website, so I can't read the article (except of the first few lines when switching to "Desktop Mode" in Firefox in Android).

Smells like some weird scroll-jacking implementation or so...

Holy shit, you're right. It's so bad on mobile. It's broken in so many ways. It scrolls horizontally and vertically. At one point I somehow scrolled the header instead of the body. I want to debug the page just so I avoid the same issues on my own sites.

Huh, yeah, that's not great. (Original submitter here.) I read it, and posted it, from an iPhone. No scrolljacking issue there.

On mobile it's completely unusable since they hijack the horizontal scrolling that would allow an unresponsive page like this to work it the first place. Bizarre.

And even though this website only contains his posts and nothing else, individual posts are minimised and have to be clicked on to unfold, which scrolls the entire page for me on mobile chrome and I have to find it again. It's a usability nightmare.
