There was a Google engineer last summer who leaked a whole giant chat transcript with one of their LLMs that was pretty impressive before ChatGPT went opened up at the end of the year.
Absolutely! One of the smartest people I know did, and works for Google now and even landed a YC interview. Not only is it possible but it could end up being a boon. Best of luck.
No. They didn't get back to me in 2006 after I submitted a pretty cool coding challenge project to them as a part of interviewing, & we've had no contact to my knowledge since.
They did support me in Google Summer of Code before that (2005). I believe they gave me $5000 for the summer. I am still working to ship open source software pursuant to those ends, on my own personal time, to this day.
I would certainly be interested in this connection offer. I applied with Google once but the offer they gave was not a high enough level. I'd love to talk about how to get a reasonable offer and interviews. Please see my profile for email if you have the time.
A good test of a software engineer would be to ask them if this is interesting or meaningful.
This "accomplishment" says more about how rote and unchanging Google's code interviews are than about ChatGPT. I'd guess Google search has had "AI" good enough to do this for years, even though it wasn't trained to.
I applied to Google. They hired me. I worked on Google Talk and Hangouts for many years. WebRTC was related and interesting, so I worked on various parts (such as the data channels) in my 20% time. After a while, I liked it so much I chose to make it my 100% time.
