The article is from 2020, maybe the regulation has come into effect.

The article is from 2014. Does anybody know if there's been any regulatory movement on this since then?

Probably new regulations.

Could you point to the actual regulation? I have not heard about this yet.

That law isn't in effect until the end of November. It's a new regulation.

Apparently changed in 2022 to protect consumers.

I bet there's some new regulation being implemented here that they just happened to forget to mention in the post.

It is a new law that just passed last year, and I'm not sure if it has taken effect yet.

If you read the article you'd see that the law was passed in 2021 but only took effect in 2024 (5 days ago).

The rule was approved last fall. Unless it was caught up in the Trump regulation freeze, it's going into effect in 2019.

This is not old. The proposed regulations were released today.

It's law, as of a few weeks ago. Some provisions will go into effect over the course of this year.

Oh? I missed this. What regulation is that?

The article does mention that in August Trump promised to roll back the regulation.

When will it come into effect? Article doesn't seem to say.

They did. It's only been a few months since that regulation was dropped.

That's a new regulation passed in December that doesn't take effect until April. At the moment, there is no cooling off period.

Didn’t notice that. Thanks for pointing that out. I can’t recall a recent piece of regulation that had that provision so this will be interesting to see if it works in reality.

Is this a new rule? I can't find anywhere that actually links or describes any new regulations but I am trying to figure out why this is just happening now.

I believe those regulations have changed.
