I complain about tesla a lot but this article simply reads like a complaint from someone that rented an unfamiliar vehicle.

sort by: page size:

So all those hundreds of thousands of new Tesla owners are having this same bad experience, hate the brand, and tell everyone that?

Oh, wait, Tesla has extremely high ratings from owners.

If you'd like to have an electric car, you owe it to yourself to gather information from more than a single Bloomberg reporter.

This article is kinda dumb. Looks like they managed to track down a handful of people who were bothered by the price cuts. Wouldn't it be more surprising if they couldn't find anyone that was bothered by them? If they had cited some kind of survey where a significant portion of respondents had expressed frustration, then I think we'd have a story. The title suggests that many more owners are upset than just a few.

And no I don't own a Tesla nor do I plan to.

"Man accidentally gets charged new features, but then reverses them without any hassle."

Don't get me wrong, I hate Tesla and how they treat their customers but this isn't a case of that. I have a Model 3, and my friend who ordered a Model S is getting screwed with delivery and it's ridiculous. I have another friend who signed an agreement for Solar Roof and Tesla is now refusing to honor that agreement and wants him to pay double the cost now. It's very crooked, but what this article is complaining about doesn't appear to be anything except bitching and moaning over something that was easily reverside.

That doesn't make it right. In fact reading this sours me even more on buying a Tesla.

You've made this complaint repeatedly in HN threads, but it doesn't seem that many reviewers or Tesla customers agree with you.

Ok, but this is still about one single case.

It’s like people who have no experience with Tesla vehicles hate the company for whatever reason and are looking for validation of their judgement.

Here's a more accurate title: "People who can’t otherwise afford Teslas are using car-sharing networks to pay for them"

Sounds like a Tesla hater...

I am impressed with Elon Musk and his accomplishments, no doubt. But this is not even close to the worst Tesla customer service story I've heard. The company is a nightmare. The only state you can even SEE a service manual for these cars is in Massachusetts where they mandate it by law, and you have to pay by the hour to see it! There's huge issues that haven't been tested in court with how Tesla treats these cars as "their cars" even after you buy them. Refused to activate salvaged and repaired vehicles that you have the title for, calling and threatening you because they detected you dared tinker with your own car, etc.

I really want to like Tesla, but as long as they treat their cars like a service rather than a product, I'd be terrified to invest my money in one of their vehicles.

Wow, that's awful. Yet more proof I'm not in Tesla's target audience.

As a (now former) Tesla owner, there's not a single moment of this story that surprises me. As I tweeted on the day that I was told that I would be receiving $5,000 less for my car than they had offered me and that I would be waiting 2-3 weeks (I actually waited over 6 weeks and had to follow-up multiple times to get the check which incidentally arrived today), a Tesla is a nice car--but the company is garbage.

I've got 3 years of experience with them that tells me it's just not worth it. Sad too, I really wanted to be a Tesla owner for life when I got the car.

Oh I definitely don’t. Just more of a commentary on Tesla’s “right integration” and customer service.

Friends I know that own a tesla have said similar things. It's not really a surprise or cause for suspicion of being paid to say that.

That is his bottom line, but not a TLDR. He writes in detail about his experience owning a Tesla for years and lists many reasons he doesn’t like about it, besides positive experiences.

I'm observing that your attitude is defensive, as if the assertions you're refuting are personally insulting to you, as if they imply that you shouldn't have bought a Tesla. I don't understand why this is so.

This is just a rant, not news worthy.

/edit: just in case, I am by no means a Tesla fan or even an EV fan.

I read the post to mean that Teslas are expensive crap.

Before a rabid fanboy appears: I'd say the same if this were a Ford GT. This isn't a vendetta against Tesla, but rather, erosion. They're "just" party to it.

Innumerable would-be-buyers being priced out of their new toy is preferable to one being unable to... truly own their belongings/freely transfer them.

I can complain because I'm aware of the terms and chose to not participate. This is why. I will agree it is a little silly to complain about terms one agreed to, though...

This seems like a natural response to Tesla's continual over-hyping of the system.
