Actual title: Federal judge blocks Seattle police from enforcing graffiti ban
Actual content: "A U.S. district court has ruled that Seattle must temporarily cease enforcement of property crimes with regard to graffiti.
Judge Marsha Pechman of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington issued a preliminary injunction, saying the city's ordinance that punishes graffiti "targets speech" and "poses a real and substantial threat of censorship."
I don't know where their property line is precisely, but it simply isn't true that they're blocking the sidewalk. The back of their car is well clear of the sidewalk. It's not even close.
Furthermore, the city is waiving the fine if they build a roof over it. Would that make any sense if they were parking on the sidewalk? Building a roof over the sidewalk so they can continue to park on it? Obviously they're not on the sidewalk.
I suppose statistically in over 300 million people you would find a ridiculous city run by just sufficiently ridiculous people who do something that ridiculous.
> been one of the most open minded places in the country
What if you want to ride a Google Bus to work, and have the audacity to think that you don't deserve to be shot at or have bricks thrown through your window? [1] [2]
The city has a "rapid response" hotline you can call if you see any ICE agents in the city. I'm not sure what their response is. But they definitely don't work with the agency
> Remember that time a city in CA sent Cointelpro-esqe letters to the registered owner for vehicles their plate readers recorded going down a particular street?
No, I don’t. I’m guessing others might not, as well. Can you please supply a link?
