That sounds more like the Newton. The Palm pilot was a massive success - a smaller, cheaper PDA that wasn't just for gadget nerds.

Palm Pre. I'm not a die hard Palm Pre fan but powered up the first gen recently and one could see the beauty of the user interface.

Speaking of which, I love the tech in Palm Pilots. To this day I'd take the monochrome screen that lasts forever and is extremely responsive.

But seems like people prefer burning batteries that need daily recharging, or input lag.
