There is no symmetry between destruction and creation/prevention of destruction, destruction is far easier.

sort by: page size:

Destruction versus creation are asymmetric. It is faster to destroy than to build.

Destruction has always been easier/more likely than creation. Death is inescapable, life not so much.

It's much easier to destroy than to create.

Well, it is easier to destroy than create...

There is a huge difference between destruction and failing to create.

Creation and destruction are both very attractive. Maintenance is not.

When people say it is easier to destroy they mean to demolish, like blowing up a stadium or something. But obviously the original metaphor that claims an easy destruction is not intended for the case of complete destruction, at least not as it applies to our lives hopefully.

destruction is never more profitable than creation. It just means the profits are being internalized and the losses externalized.

Destruction is part of the process of creation.

Note that destruction is mostly easier than creation. There are only a few exceptions, like state regulations and bureaucracy.

we have very different definitions of destruction

It’s about destruction, not making sense in my opinion.

And it is. Pretty much always. it easier to destroy than create.

If we can create , then we can destroy just as easily.

Indeed it’s easier to destroy than to build.

Destroying is so much more work than creating.

That's as much to be attributed to the asymmetry between destruction and creation as it is to the pareto principle.

This is nonsense. It's always easier to destroy than to build/mantain. If you got any real advice, by all means...

But usually destruction is just destruction.
