I was wondering about that. If someone is sitting at my doorstep for hours, no matter their intention or field of work, I'm calling the cops to have them removed
Ok maybe yes, not probably, but if they do call the police, are you going to admit to destroying their thing? Are you sure you're going to be in the clear there? Why take that risk?
Yeah, I was thinking the same. Also coincidentally... here in Orlando, you can call the cops on people who are too noisy, no fancy equipment necessary if the cop can hear it they will knock on their door and issue a warning, a fee will be issued if they have to come back.
Let’s say we’re neighbors. I keep a close watch on your house, and every time you come and go I phone the local police and tell them, “OceanKing just got home” or whatever. Would you be ok with that?
It's also up to the police whether to take it any further.
Once they arrive, and hopefully the owner arrives, explain yourself (you were acting in good faith, etc.) and try and make sure the police don't go overboard.
Huh, if Pinkerton thugs showed up at my door, I would have demanded a warrant + actual law enforcement to even start the conversation. It's not like they have any more privileges than regular people. On the other hand, if they showed up with regular employees and pleaded their case to me I would probably help them out.
Showing up with private heat is the best way ensure I'll think twice about being helpful.
Don’t let them in without a warrant, but perhaps don’t even open the door. A friend of mine had a noise complaint called in on him. They just didn’t open the door when the cop showed up. He eventually went away. Not sure how often it works, but I found it hilarious.
