I think the problem for people who are not in Germany is that manufacturers often release different versions for each market. So, for example, you might find that >50% of the models being tested by Stiftung Warentest exist only in Germany or other parts of Western Europe.

sort by: page size:

There's the Stiftung Warentest in Germany (test.de).

In the USA maybe, but german culture in general doesn't track the newest tech as fervently.

I guess the reach of German IT media like heise-Verlag on reviews and buyer guides may have something to do with it.

Neat. Why is it limited to Germany?

Well (just reading the headline) I certainly wouldn't wanna be making a hobby device targeting the German market... sure if this only applies to companies who have been in business for X years and/or are selling Y+ devices.

I'm in Germany, most of the problems I read about here did not yet arrive in Germany luckily.

Available in Germany

Not available in Germany.

Not available in Germany.

You've been making great arguments. I appreciate them. However, why not order the device from Germany yourself? Are there stringent regulations in place that prevent customers from purchasing across state or even country lines?

When I was in the market for a new washing machine I tried to purchase a review, but the online system wouldn't let me, because I'm not a German resident.

It may be because the foundation recives German public money.

Germany based customers.

Others aren't much better frankly. The German process was pretty much "Sit tight, don't ask for updates...oh and it may take 2 years" (It did).

Still not usable in Germany. I don't get it, when will companies realize there's a huge market for content in Germany (and presumable other EU countries) even if it's not translated.

Germany seems to care more than other EU countries about such things like CE. They don't have trouble turning away imports based just because it's shipped to private customers.

Just ask people trying to receive PinePhones in Germany.

You don't have a german manual? Bye bye, try again later.

Ironically it's not available in Germany, because of "right issues"[1].

I never saw anyone with one in Germany, besides computer stores trying to get rid of them with massive discounts and still they gather dust.

I think some German corporations will still be reluctant to use it due to replication, etc.

I live in Germany. I'll look into this.
