Not that I particularly love the big G but why are top comments taking this seriously? Google grew in 2022 from 150,000 to 190,000 then down to 170,000 in 2023. What are couple of hundred down in such a large company? This is just some FUD piece.

Just for some context Google have ~50,000 employees according to this https://investor.google.com/financial/tables.html

Yet Google market share increases and now 93%. It is not real people but just people that like to scream and yell about leaving Google.

Google will report numbers later today. But have been growing at 20%+ the last 10 quarters.

Obviously Google has nothing to worry about with those type of growth numbers.

Versus Apple reported last week declines in both top and bottom lines.

What? Google grew over 25%. Which is just accelerating as numbers get bigger.

It is absolutely mind-boggling that a company as large as Google could increase their headcount by 62% in three years.

For anyone who is looking for a since of scale. There are only around 52,000 total employees @ Google, and there are 3 million+ software engineers. So this quote is either out of context or wildly inaccurate.

Google has grown from 75k to 150k people in the last three years?

That's hyperbolic. Part of the announcement is a commitment to re-evaluate the numbers as time goes on.

Google is in No Way stepping back from this.

> grew to a community of over 300 million people

Was this while still under Google's control? Is one not able to count that low?

Anyone have an idea of where he's getting the figure for the number of employees at Google? He says 10,000, but Wikipedia[1] has it at 20k.

To be fair, Google has a little more than 200 users.

Considering there is a giant "ad" at the top of Google.com, I'm surprised it's such a small number, relative to total number of GOOG users.

Jesus Christ that chart. What is going on over at Google???

The growth rates of these are fascinating. I'm amazed Google still has that much of an exponential curve.

How many people are employed by Google as of 2021? This company has got to be huge, yet we always just say "Google" as if it's a few people.

Wait...

Google+ had 52 million users?

That should be the headline.

Well, that's totally worth doubling Google's headcount.

How can anyone possibly make this kind of prediction? Especially since Google+ has been dropping in activity level.

Look not to be blunt, but 1800 users? Why should they care?

I'm being a devils advocate, but ... if you were at Google and a person making large business decisions, why would you care about 1800 users?

The market has grown, I wouldn't be surprised if their amount of users has stayed similar for quite a few years now. Google pays per user, not per percent of market share.
