This is kind of corporate politics that is ruining the tech industry.

Tech companies are getting into politics too much

Politics are depressing :/

Has the tech industry always been so cutthroat, or is this a new trend? Maybe I just didn't hear about tech companies lobbying for power in the past?

This reads pretty normal for big tech corporate politics.

Tech illiteracy and strong political opinions are rampant. Dangerous combination for tech companies.

It's pretty sad.

It's not just sad - it's embarrassing, and shows how ineffective the tech industry is at politics.

It's so disgusting to see Big Tech playing politics and saying what is true or not. That shit should not be allowed.

The tech heroes of our age are becoming some kind of politicians, this is very sad.

This is just a gross manipulation of societal discourse. Yet another reason the biggest tech companies need to be broken up or regulated like the public utilities they are.

It is so sad to see the bad actors in the tech industry pushing so hard to advance policies that are harmful to society at large and people individually.

It is even more sad that I'm not the least bit surprised by this.

Other industries are politically involved. Why should tech steer clear? What makes this more of a Pandora's box?

You cannot get to the scale of Facebook or Google without being political.

These are tech companies in that they sell tech. They are not tech companies as in parties who are only interested in building the best products using technology. As far as how they act silicon valley is turning just as bad as Wall Street

The tech industry is extremely apathetic to local politics and mostly loses fights they try to get into.

Have been taking a few months off and seeing this reminds me of why I hate the tech industry or just corporate America in general.

Bullshit politics.

From another poster in this thread:

"Reality is highly malleable and people will craft whatever narratives they need to to get the things they want done"

Yet another self-inflicted wound the Congress of old men do to make the US software industry even less competitive. I would argue this is political because the tech industry is a convenient target at the moment, full of young people who tend to vote against the ruling party. That, and legacy industries don't care too much about R&D anyway.

Wow... Is there a way to live and work in tech without having to put up with all this shit ever again ? Why are those politics taking over everything.

people make decisions, companies don't. That's the problem, people see the company as a political vehicle, akin to a political party. That's wrong on so many levels, primarily on the level that it's a well-funded for-profit organization with the means to cause undemocratic, arbitrary political damage. Blame individuals as much as you want for their politics, don't use the overfunded big tech as a trojan horse to destroy democratic balances.

Not to mention they are far too involved in politics, which tech companies should not be, at least not overtly.

I realize I'm likely in the minority here, but I grow weary of tech companies thinking they need to overtly champion causes, many of which I vociferously disagree with. If you make widgets, make them. Don't get involved in politics and then use your company to champion your beliefs, because this tends to alienate people.

This isn't about tech, it's about politics and profit.

That tech industry often lobbies for the wrong causes though.
