Total coincidence this comes out the day Google announces Gemini 1.5 I'm sure

Not a leak. It's the same document linked in Google's blog post "For more details, see our Gemini 1.5 Pro technical report."

https://blog.google/technology/ai/google-gemini-next-generat...

Well, Google just released Gemini 1.5 which looks insane so there's at least 2 companies in this race.

These huge updates are interestingly timed though - same day?

Gemini 1.5 Pro is not yet released: «Starting today, we’re offering a limited preview of 1.5 Pro to developers and enterprise customers via AI Studio and Vertex AI»

Something like an alpha version.

Limited preview in their jargon.

While today is about Gemini Advanced and its new capabilities, next week we'll share more details on what's coming for developers and Cloud customers [1]

[1] https://blog.google/technology/ai/google-gemini-update-sunda...

> Starting on December 13, developers and enterprise customers can access Gemini Pro via the Gemini API in Google AI Studio or Google Cloud Vertex AI.

Excited to give this a spin. There will be rough edges, yes, but it's always exciting to have new toys that do better (or worse) in various ways.

They literally are announcing Gemini 1.5 Pro GA here. Yes, the one with 1 million token context.

In less than a few hours Gemini 1.5 is old news. Sam is doing live demos on Twitter while Google just released a blog.

Didn't think Google would be the first of the Facebook, Apple, Google and Microsoft to get disrupted.

I've missed this on my initial skim:

The one launching next week is Gemini Pro.

The one in the benchmarks is Gemini Ultra which is "coming soon".

Still, exciting times, can't wait to get my hands on it!

but if Vertex AI is using Gemini Ultra, then why makersuite (aisuite now? hmmm) showing only "Gemini 1.0 Pro 001" (001: a version inside a version)

and why have makersuite/aisuite in the first place, if Vertex AI is the center for all things AI? and why aitestkitchen?

I'm seeing only Gemini 1.0 Pro on Vertex AI. So even if I enabled Google Gemini Advanced (Ultra?), enabled Vertex AI API access, I have to first be blessed by Google to access advanced APIs.

It seems paying for their service doesn't mean anything to Google at this point. As a developer, you have to jump through hoops first.

That's the date of the TOS. It looks like this product has been around a while. The latest build is dated Nov 16, 2016 as far as I can tell (they don't date the release notes). The first release goes back to Oct 1, 2013.

The latest update I see on that link is from 2023.11.21 on “Expanding Bard’s understanding of YouTube videos.” Is it possible that there are country-specific update pages?

Edit: I found a Google page indicating that Gemini Pro is not accessible in Europe, with no ETA for when it will be released there: https://support.google.com/bard/answer/14294096

Sorry I should have linked in my original comment, that's the page I was looking at to get the launch date and the extra SDK information. It's still very scarce, though.

I can confirm this, when the first post was up this morning I checked and Bard was still not available.

I'm excited to see it is now, and I'm looking forward to test driving Gemini for the next two months.

I'm curious why it is now available, maybe the privacy policy changes for Gemini resolved the issue.

I thought Gemini 1.5 Pro is available immediately, and the Workspace stuff is coming in 1 month.

Fair point if you are talking about the video understanding stuff, I don't know when that's coming.

Gemini Ultra release day, and a minor post on ollama OpenAI compatibility gets more points lol

Ah thanks, I didn't realize it was out. I read a separate article that said it hadn't been released yet -- it was probably outdated.
