Indeed, and it's a serious problem. There are really only two ways out of this mess and one is not at all like the other and both are roughly equally likely by my reckoning.

Needless to say, I agree that it's a major problem, and one the full extent of which we will only experience 10-15 years in the future. One thing is for sure: something _has_ to be done now.

An issue that bothers me no end is the fact that we very well could get out of this mess if we collectively wanted to.

Absolutely, and that's a problem that needs to be addressed, but we can't fix everything at once.

Yup, it will be a mess and we need to come up with solutions. But we shouldn't let that influence the decision.

The current situation is unacceptable and needs to be resolved somehow. It doesn't matter how exactly as long as it is resolved.

I absolutely agree it is a mess for other reasons as well; but let us attack it on all angles, and I think security is the most important one these days.

Yeah we need to work through all the issues this exposes. It’s going to be complicate and messy but it’s been inevitable for a long time.
