It would be awesome if they published this data more openly for academic use!

Edit: Looks like they might source their data from commercial ADSB providers. Bummer

Do you happen to know if their dataset is available to the public?

Good. Hopefully this data will be open sourced.

For aggregated data and stats like this I think it could be fully publicly available.

Do these guys have an open data for academic/research purposes?

I can't wait to see stats from this! Hoping when you license it to companies, you collect anonymous but public stats.

As a general fan of open data like this, I've been a little worried these analyses would lead to the data not being released in the future. Hopefully if they change anything in the future, it will still be useful and interesting.

Sounds interesting! I work with these data, is any of that going to be Open Source or commercial only?

I'm really excited about this. With tools like Amazon's Elastic Map-Reduce, it's actually possible for those not affiliated with a research institution to process this data and attempt to draw conclusions from it.

We are going to make the dataset public with the paper. I am happy to share it privately in the mean time.

This is awesome. Can't wait to see a bunch of public data from random sources. Should open up some unique project opportunities.

Personally, i'll be more interested in having this kind of data publicly accessible like they do with other dataset on google's publicdata.

This is very interesting, as a Data Eng, I'd love to see what they are doing with the huge volume of data they collect.

Do you intend to make the dataset available? I've attempted to do something similar, but had difficulty, would love access to the dataset.

Datasets like this need to be public. They're too valuable to be silo'd by some little AI startup.

Lovely, they are also open sourcing data.

Now open source the data. :)

Ironically this is referred to as "open source" data.

Whoa, this would be awesome! Strongly consider publishing open datasets. :) Could you talk at all about how it works, or what privacy issues you've dealt with?

Would be nice if there was an open source version of this, where the data was published for the public to learn from
