According to @muleradio's twitter stream, Gruber approached them. No poaching. Sounds like it was John's idea entirely.

I've seen Gruber say that Mike Montero was a really good friend of his a few times. He was even on their show. The move could be because he wanted to be with friends and support their efforts.

It's also possible they sold 500 before they pulled the plug, and 7500 after (things take a while to get down the drain, to stretch the analogy).

Still, Gruber is a rumor spreader, not a trusted source on anything.

I understand this was private communication from Rob and Russ.

I would be surprised if acquisition rumors made it that far down the chain so early, but I’m sure that Jeff saw the writing on the wall with how RV management was approaching things.

At the time that such an acquisition took place, it would have been heavily premised on FB feed injection, and if such a thing were to be realistic, I would have heard about it.

This is utter hearsay, unreliable watercooler baseball, but it’s not one person who said that he was in Thailand chilling for most of the vest.

“Meeting with regulators” aka meeting with his tribe which I’m sure Gensler is a part of.

if i recall that only won because they contacted Tom first and he said no, which isn't what happened with OAI/SJ

"Never knew this was a clause...glad he pushed for this."

You are right in the way you phrased this "glad he pushed for this".

But I think in reading all the other comments here there is an assumption that Mark should get the lions share of the credit for this event.

But Mark didn't say he was the only one who pushed for it.

He said (from the tweet that the story is based on)

"I told them I wouldn't come back this season if it wasn't (removed)".

We have no idea if this was also the bargaining position of any or all of the other sharks as well (nobody has asked them) or if the production company had already decided to do that.

It's great that Mark has done this but I think w/o knowing about the others at this point he may be getting more credit than he deserves (or, maybe not! We just don't know).

But it's not speculation:

> ...according to four people familiar with the discussions who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe them, as well as tweets from some of the people involved.

Oh wow didn’t realize that, hadn’t heard anything since the initial reports. Thanks for the clarification!

Any links about the rumor? That would be interesting if they switched directions

It's not. Jwr accused Dave McClure of incoherence, not collusion.

And that's what we know about. Other people involved had their names redacted from the proposal, for some unknown reason...

Didn’t catch that. I searched for interference. Good to hear this is on their minds.

Definitely. Musion were tweeting about it earlier.

I would assume the most likely explanation is an informant was included in the Signal conversations and forwarded the contents along. I wonder if we will get an official statement from Signal.

The coordinated and disciplined communication from both suggests this wasn’t a surprise. Is this a planned move in a grander scheme?

That’s going to be a interesting story given the last time they talked, they were accusing the police and Tesla of planning to “swatt” Tripp by reporting a anonymous report that Tripp was planning violence.

Anyone able to provide commentary on who's who in the comment linked to. Seems like if this was an official effort one of the two parties would have posted an announcement.
