CTFs are not usually streamed, as that would give a leg up to other teams watching it :P Not sure if anyone records their work for later viewing, though.
I don't think we would ever stream them, because a lot of the startups say things to investors that they wouldn't want to publish to the world-- e.g. about how they plan to beat their competitors. It might be interesting to record them and publish them later. But so far we haven't had time for such refinements. This was the first time we even had a sound system.
It'd be a great opportunity for anyone doing video. I think the real reason that they don't stream live is that the video quality usually isn't that great. By releasing the videos later they can provide higher quality and give it a more polished feel.
I don't think we'd ever live stream it, because there are some things a startup can say in a presentation to potential investors (e.g. about partnerships with big cos) that they could not broadcast.
