I only recently discovered him, and the biggest thing I noticed is that he lets his guests talk. Probably because he's not constrained to a particular amount of time, but I find gems in his interviews of people that I don't from the same people interviewed elsewhere
His interview with Vitalik Buterin is probably one of the most insightful podcast episodes I've ever heard. I kind of wish a lot more of my own conversations were like that one.
There's also some good interviews with him on the various Elixir podcasts. I'm blanking on the one he was recently on, but I suppose listennotes.com(?) might help out.
Any specific interview you recommend? The few I tried listening to were not worth finishing... simply un-interesting. I'd like to hear one or two of the memorable ones that his fans really enjoyed.
Also credit to TF for the sheer volume and variety of very long form podcast interviews of usually very high quality.
I sort of see him as a curator of interesting guests now - very often individuals I've never heard of. Some of those interviews have changed my perspective on the world.
He gets good guests and asks interesting questions. His interview of Demis Hassabis was great for example, and Yann LeCun was good too. He went extremely deep with John Carmack.
Some of his interviews seem to skew a bit more religious / alien theory and I just skip those.
i love how his speaking style in that interview is like his stories, meandering tangents and fascinating
