I just hope this is not a repeat of the Versa 4 where no third party apps were allowed[1] (unlike the prev versions which allowed them). That's a head-scratcher. This is the thing that gets people to spring for a Garmin.

None of those companies allow third party apps, do they?

Why? There isn't for the other apps they have on there.

> Users will not find anything when they search the app store for e.g. "navigation app with pebble support".

You can search Google.

I could be mistaken, but I'm not seeing a connection between that and third party app support.

Do you have a link? It seems it still requires a 3rd party app.

But no 3rd party apps. That was an after thought.

Proprietary app, so it's a no-go.

There are: you can only use approved third-party apps to connect to the service. This one is no longer approved.

It's ironic that the only devices this can be installed on are Google phones and one Xiaomi phone.

This is unlikely to be the reason since the 3rd party app was already developed for Android Auto and Google rejected it thereafter.

What a surprise, it's not available for Apps users.

Only app that didn't work so far was some Ikea supplemental app because no AR hardware support.

Looking at App Store update logs, following updates were installed recently: Gmaps, Vinted, Spotify, Things, Barbora, Mattermost, Trello, Revolut, Strava, Slack, Dropbox, Duo, Geocaching...

Sorry about that, it's one of the pitfalls of building a new brand. Google "install multiple apps" or something similar and we'll be the first result.

Ah, yeah, I think it's only if you install other apps. Sorry.

I'm pretty sure 3rd party apps don't have access to that data anyway...

See above; this app sadly won't be available.

I guess when you call 3rd party apps that implement things features it's a little hard to tie things to one operating system version...

I guess I'm too used to Android where you need to install a 3rd party APK.

...but as long as they don't block the functionalities that 3rd party apps need...

Not a safe bet by any means.
