It’s one of the few options (the only other being Orion afaik) that you can natively block ads from the browser on iOS. The other solutions like firefox/chrome/safari have to go through the declarative content blocking API since you can’t install Chrome/Firefox plugins.
The two most popular browsers on iOS do not support ad blocking, unless there's something I'm not aware of. I've never seen an ad blocker in iOS Safari or Chrome. Firefox on iOS has tracking protection which can block some ads if you believe the description of the setting.
iOS ad-blocking is no where near as good as you can get with (real, not iOS) Firefox. I’ve tried just about every option and they all fail to block a lot of ads, and they more frequently cause issues on pages as well.
No, Firefox for iOS has its own built-in ad blocker, as far as I know.
For example, iOS Chrome definitely does show ads for me on the same pages that Firefox manages to block them on, with the same content blocker iOS settings.
Firefox Focus on iOS can block ads in Safari, too, oddly enough. And it's free. It's not uBlock Origin but it does the job well enough I've not bothered to look for any other solutions.
AFAIK, ads can only be blocked in Safari on iOS. I have Adguard on my iPhone, but it only works in Safari – not Firefox, which is the browser I use. So that's very annoying.
Yes, there are multiple solutions available for Chrome/Firefox on other platforms, but on iOS there is only native/apple content blockers and browsers with built in ad blocking.
No, other browsers on iOS are basically wrapping Safari. If you want ad blocking on iOS, you have to use an app that uses the content blocker API. My favorite is 1Blocker X, which seems to be pretty well reviewed as well.
