Indeed since this is MS you can guarantee this is just a first step to them expanding their ability to monitor your habits for further monetization.

This is MS, of course they'll do this kind of thing.

I am pretty excited to see where MS takes this.

Really hoping, but also expecting MS is doing this too internally right now, it's the only pain point left for me on Windows.

Great to see how this sort of thing could feel.

Stuffs like these are going to be great boost for MS and its cloud initiative. Zenefit-esque product is next on the horizon.

AFAIK MS seems to be doing this too, BTW.

Anyway, it's Microsoft and it will spend a huge amount of money for the marketing this new gadget. We will see the results in next 6 months I guess.

Seems like the kind of testing I’d expect from Microsoft. Nice.

Microsoft Guidance will do this.

I would not be so surprised. MS have, beyond playing dirty, been good at coming up with tools for the office sphere.

I agree. If they wrap this into their MSDN subscription packages, then it opens up a ton of new users.

Thanks for sharing that! Do you happen to know how MS feels about that implementation nowadays?

Well, with MS, its a feature.

Do you mean that you think that Microsoft will do these things for you?

Very excited to hear this. In the blog post where they announced this [0], they also say they will be helping their customers, the more the merrier.

I know people worry that big companies use compliance to squeeze out smaller competitors, but I think CCPA is a good start and very approachable for medium sized companies. Know what data you have, be transparent about it, and be willing to remove it if requested.

God, finally a MS website that I can actually determine something about what the company does from.

I am pretty sure this is what Microsoft is trying to do.

I suspect this is one of the things that Microsoft has more experience with, and we might be seeing their influence here.

Thanks, I totally missed that. That's pretty great – I thought it was a neat idea from MS, but I was worried it would get any traction. Glad to have been wrong!

Dude, MS has had activation for their products for like a decade and a half if not more.
