The Communists were big on revolution. As in, from the inside, done by the workers of the target country themselves, usually with a lot of foreign help but no full-blown foreign invasion. It may seem implausible now, but many countries had already fallen to revolutions, and it was not unreasonable at the time to think it might happen in the U.S.
There were many attempted communist revolutions around Europe in the late 19th century and the early 20th century. In most cases, large parts of the working class had decided that their own country was the enemy that had to be destroyed. They had no loyalty to the state, but they found natural allies in revolutionary communists in other countries.
What a surprise it is that so many millions have perished under the banner of communism. I suppose as long as everyone dies equally, it's still consistent with the system...
> the popularity of communism and socialism abroad
Which took hold because workers were being abused. Various communist revolutions in history, and all the related violence, can be considered in part blood shed towards improving the conditions for the working class.
Russia nearly blew you up. The communist aspect of it is entirely tangential outside of dumbass propaganda that’s over half a century old. Russia is nothing like a communist country today, and lo and behold, tense military international conflict dominating the headlines still. By all means, communism is a terribly short sighted economic/political system, but thinking “the commies” are the bad guys is just outdated and embarrassing to our country.
Question is - what is the fuss about? Everyone and their dog knows that Communism is a torturous system that can't exist without killing lots of people. I was born in the Soviet Union and i know it and everyone out of the couple billion people who lived in the Soviet bloc knows, there is no need to prove it time and again.
What is the value of these videos since we can't do anything with China anyway?
Except that all communist countries as implemented not only started with revolution but follow a doctrine of the permanent revolution. Which is how they can be sixty or seventy years on and talking about the danger of counter-revolutionaries...
LOL Communists are killing their political opponents. It's part of their political doctrine. Do you need some quotes of famous communists?
PS.
Sometimes we need to cure illness of patients, sometimes we can't do that and need to isolate patients because they are threat for healthy people. Communists ideology damages morality to point of no return. Communists killed about 100 millions of people in last century (about 60 millions in China alone), but they have no afraid of that.
In soviet Russia, shortly after capture, major communists had meeting about how to build communism. They decided that they need to kill 10% of population of every generation to convert regular people into «soviet people», which then figure out how to build communism. I found that in filmed archives of secret soviet documents.
