Buddy I got you, I spent last two days figuring out the colour scheme of my product and still couldn’t figure out the best one. I think I should also go with your approach!!
Solarized Color Scheme - You spent more time looking at your code than you see your spouse. A good color scheme reduces fatigue especially when you are working through your code for long periods.
I’ve tried dozens of color palettes and most of them suffer from getting much less distinguishable when your screen is under the effect of an orange filter (Night Light et al).
Best color scheme I’ve encountered so far is Oceanic Next. Holds up great under orange filter and is generally pleasant.
It's not a known color scheme. For a while we had an ugly color theme, and then I sat with a designer friend and we fixed it. I agree that it's pretty now :) Apparently colors needed to have consistent saturation levels and stuff..
I like the color schemes that Muller predicts, but I don't think it's for Muller's reason. I like color schemes that have exactly one saturated color that catches the eye, like the bottom amber and the top blue in the "good" schemes. The "bad" color schemes don't have any.
