Suspect that may vary based on host system and OS.

~455 on Chrome, ~452 on Firefox (fully patched windows 10, 7950X3D).

3 runs including a cold start for both, variance on FF was +/-9.6, Chrome was +/- 6.0.

I'd say they are there (on that specific benchmark).

Love it.

Put the count number up to 50 and fps dropped to 25-30 for a bit then went up to high 50s again, which is interesting.

Chrome, Win7 64-bit, Intel Core i7 2.7GHz 16GB ram

I don't have Chrome installed, but on Windows / AMD, I get roughly comparable numbers between Edge (340/211) and Firefox (341/253).

I get 1-2 FPS running this in Chrome on macOS Mojave.

None at this stage. Chrome did add some instrumentation a few versions back to collect data and decide wether it's worth implementing.

Problem is: who's going to bother sending early hints if it doesn't improve performance?

Hey, I've been trying to look into this a bit. Which OS (or OSes?) do you see 10-15fps on? Because so far on Mac I'm not seeing any differences compared to Chrome, but I may just be missing it...

The "more details" link goes to a blog post from September 2010, so I suspect the test has been around for a while, but it was still interesting to see that for me (Linux, nVidia 560Ti, 319 proprietary driver), Firefox reported 60+ fps while Chrome reported 24 fps.

270 FPS in IE9 (yes 270), 48 FPS in Chrome 10, 23 FPS in FF 3.6

I just installed IE9 and am kinda feeling it. Even though it completely stole Chrome's interface, it works.

FWIW: >60fps (hits vsync limit) in 1080p full screen, Chrome 41.0.2267.0, Ubuntu 14.04, Radeon HD 5770

But it increases CPU usage (by Chrome) to 100% on one of my cores, so it definitely seems CPU bound, on my system at least.
