I half expected to see that damn Gretzky quote. All that's missing is an informercial.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the great gretzky quote: “I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been.”

I thought Wayne Gretzky said that?

It's utterly incomprehensible to me that networks are allowed to advertise and then insert gambling content into their broadcasts... you think we would have learned our lesson with cigarette ads. And the saddest part, when I see Wayne Gretzky, the greatest hockey player of all time, who can't possibly need the money shilling BetMGM, my heart breaks

I think Jobs quoted Gretzky more than once too:

"Skate to where the puck is going, not where it has been" - Wayne Gretzky

The mis-quote stuck out for me, too. "Skating to where the puck is", is actually exactly what Gretzky was saying not to do.

It threw me off the entire piece -- as soon as I see something fundamental so totally wrong, I find it hard to concentrate on the rest of the message.

> As Jobs said, go to where the puck will be.

Pretty sure that was Wayne Gretzky.

"I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been."

Wayne Gretzky

"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." Wayne Gretzky

“I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been.” --Wayne Gretzky

Believe the quote is Wayne Gretzky, an ice hockey player.

The problem with the Gretzky quote in this context is that in hockey, you don't lose points for missed shots.

Insert tired Gretzky quote about skating to where the puck is going....

"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." -Wayne Gretzky

As hockey superstar Wayne Gretzky said, "Please stop trotting out that quote Steve Jobs once said because we've all heard it and there are very few hockey players who are actually great enough to really know where the puck's going, anyway. Don't automatically assume you're one of them."

I read this as "NHL partners with GoPro to deliver fans' unique perspectives of the game" and thought that would be very boring.

What a great post. Being Canadian, something didn't sit right with me with the Gretzky quote. I think the corrected version "skate to where the puck is going to be" is likely what the author meant. Here are two of Gretzky's actual quotes:

"A good hockey player plays where the puck is. A great hockey player plays where the puck is going to be."

and

"I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been."

Another one of my favorite Gretzky quotes - "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."

Actually, his father said it. It is often misattributed; most notably by Steve Jobs all throughout his life who never admitted he was wrong.
