I generally think it's a fairly good deal for people. While I could've priced myself significantly higher, I wanted to make this more open to just people with ideas.
Also, my hope is that the work will actually be quite fun :D
Fair points. It is a bit of a weekend project, and it is really just me working on it in my spare time. Who knows, maybe it will grow into something bigger/better. Or maybe not. Either way it is just something fun to play with.
I know from business or ROI the whole built isn’t probably worth it, but it’s still cool project and I like the amount of details and pictures, just how I write my projects, will bookmark it and get back to it later for any updates.
It took a fair amount of effort to build mine, but it was (and still is) such a rewarding feeling to have finished a project like this. If you have any questions or just want to bounce some ideas please feel free to give me a buzz. I'm always interested in other peoples DIY projects :)
This was clearly done as a DIY project, I love it! It's definitely not worth the time/money, but isn't that the definition of a hobby?
I'm very happy for OP, I always enjoy checking out projects like this: the computer made of marbles, the big CPU made from logic gates, esoteric programming languages... More content like this, please!
Congrats on the cool project, I've never seen one done before and I understand how this would be of value to someone starting out that doesn't have access to the real deal. I think this must have been fun to develop and it shows. I can see great value in specific cases, for young kids to get a grasp at the joy of getting good photo results while experimenting. The experimentation factor is always a plus for interactivity and you showed good use of the tech to accomplish that.
