I wouldn't call this innovation... it's cool, yeah, but let's stop using the word innovation for each cool feature created

Right, but that's not an innovation.

I wouldn’t call this “innovation”.

That's not innovation.

That's a brand thing, not innovation

Ah, the innovation of our age... isn't innovation after all.

But it says it's innovative!

Innovation. I don't think it means what you think it means.

Seriously this is such an over used and hence watered down word. Every new thing isn't and innovation, novel maybe but not innovation.

The assembly line was an innovation. Ride sharing was an innovation. Pokémon go was a novel use of tech.

i don't think the previous poster meant moving buttons around and changing icons as "innovation".

I don't think the word innovative should apply anymore to social networking games, to-do lists, or rounded corners.

So taking something no one either heard about or uses and making it useable is not innovation? Got it.

I’m not sure how you’re getting to “not innovative”.

I wouldn't class it as revolutionary either, but it /is/ innovative.

Innovation doesn't equal inventing new stuff. I think it is quite innovative how they use an old mechanism for a new use case.

We're talking about something as obvious as taking a photo and sending it to a friend in a streamlined fashion. If this counts as innovation here, I want no part in it. Taking a huge stream of data and figuring out what to show to who might be called an innovation, but this is not. Building the worlds best mapping service with street view is innovation, this is not.

That's not very innovative of you. ;-)

I'm sure that's not their intent. What's notable though is how much innovation they are actually showing, that's rare imho.

No. Innovative.

You're confusing being innovative with being innovative in software.

Innovation is not packaging existing technology in a new shell. That’s creative at most.
