care to put it on github? I'd love to give it a try (though I don't have too many problems focusing myself. I'm in the middle of a workday, just doing some..shit, HN).

Honestly, I could see this working really well for lots of things which require deep focus. Even for programming without external distractions part of me thinks this would be absolutely wonderful.

I saw a lot of these apps out there but none that worked quite how I wanted. I wrote a little more about this in the case study: http://bradjasper.com/blog/case-study-focus/

Eventually my goal is to make Focus pretty extensible so you can run your own custom scripts on focus & unfocus. Hope to have some of this out soon.

This is really cool! Could you please add a keyboard shortcut for focusing the input field? (perhaps a forward slash '/' like on Youtube or Github)

It sounds nice in theory but I've noticed I cannot focus when somebody else is looking over my shoulder. It could be useful as a way to occasionally show somebody around the code base though.

Hi! Creator of webfocus.io here. I've noticed a lot of people were asking for it and decided to build it myself.

Early users seem to like it a lot - it helps if you're a Mac/iOS user, but have to use Windows at work or university.

Of course, it's not perfect. It won't have all the features of OmniFocus - but it's steadily improving. I plan to add notes next, as it's the biggest missing thing for tasks right now.

Hope you like it, let me know what you think

OMG. I could not do this. I hope it's useful to others, but not for me...at all.

The biggest distraction for me, when working/focusing, is movement at the edge of my vision. You know, like most websites with their moving ads, or fly-out videos that no one asked for, etc.

I'm glad you found your silverbullet, but that specific approach would wreck my productivity.

It looks like the ability to focus in on an app could prove useful. If I get into it again. I will take a look.

It has focus for me, using iterm2.

The app I'm working on is not a strict to-the-letter implementation of Autofocus / FVP, but it will certainly lend itself very well to similar systems. I'll let you know when I have an MVP to test.

I'd be interested in seeing a writeup on how you make them, what settings work for focus vs. work, etc.

It's a shame this is for webpages only. I would very much like "focus follows eyes" in my window manager.

This is exactly what Focusmate does (founder here).

If you check it out I'd love to know what you think!

Check out FocusMate. It has been helping me for the past few weeks.

I like the idea! Looks similar to focus mode from Google's digital well-being, which I use often.

I assume you are an xmonad dev? I use it and I really like it. Could I ask you to look into the focus/unfocus loop issue?

I love OmniFocus, but have always been bothered by a lack of web interface or Android client. (I use Focus GTD as an unofficial client on Android, and it's less than perfect at best.) I've been looking for something like this. Going to try it out and hopefully provide some insight.

Concentrate is great, but I'm going for something a little different with Focus over the long-term. Hope to have more features out soon that make this clear :)

Downloading focus now. Thanks!

I wrote an Alfred workflow for Focus a while back. Not sure if it works with the premium version but it does work with the alpha builds that you can still download.
