For those who would like to help him, the most direct way is to buy and then review his book on Amazon. He will receive more money for the paper edition than for the Kindle.

sort by: page size:

I saw somewhere that a kindle edition is incoming.

For the older book, he refused to publish one, because he thought that it was more like a workbook, you're supposed to dogear it, take notes on the margins, color code, put postits on the pages, carry it around with you.

On twitter, he actually points to the Arstechnica subscription (5$) which will give you the review in pdf/epub/mobi

At least he seems to be fine either way.

Err. There is a kindle version available on the amazon link he posted.

His book is not available on Kindle, so no

Does he offer PDF versions of his books tho

Thanks yes I have the ebook I just prefer paper and wanted to give the author a financial contribution also. I should have mentioned that.

Buy the book from author, donate to someone, download from the internet.

If you look at the comments on his post announcing the book, the majority are asking for a kindle/ebook version. He implies that it was easier to get going with a printed version, but I just don't understand how that's possible. I would love to hear why.

Some info from Siracusa about the different ways to read the review: http://siracusa.tumblr.com/post/27978338524/about-my-mountai...

Sounds like if you buy the Kindle version when it comes out ($5), he'll get a direct cut, which is nice.

He's said on his twitter that Kindle version will be available later in the year.

I offered to do an eBook version for free (even though I would guess he could spare a dime or two) with LiberWriter. I suspect the problem is not time or money or access to competent people, but a desire to maintain the book as a print-only production, which is frustrating. Sure, perhaps it is better in print, but for some people, they're not going to get it if it's not an eBook.

Nice! I have a free-eBook-when-you-buy-a-print-copy policy. Please send me a picture of the book when you receive it or some other proof-of-purchase, and I'll hook you up with a PDF with matching page numbers. This way you'll be able to easily switch between print copy and digital as you need.

there is a kindle version for sale on amazon.

Well, he has accepted electronic versions of his book. It's unfortunate that all but the pdf versions don't meet his standards:

"Note: However, I have personally approved ONLY the PDF versions of these books. Beware of glitches in the ePUB and Kindle versions, etc., which cannot be faithful to my intentions because of serious deficiencies in those alternative formats."

I prefer electronic books simply because they take zero physical space in my apartment. I do wish we could fix the issues.

Not him but that's my plan, and the paperback is currently unavailable on the non-.com amazon storefronts.

I'm guessing it will be up within a few days.

I suggested that link because it discusses what may work for the parent to get what he needs right now, instead of speculating a 'kindle version might be coming soon.'

The formats may have evolved, but I don't see a mobi or an epub version today. If you have a link, kindly post it.

Thanks. If the kindle version is cheap I'll pick it up.

I'd like to support the author - is it possible to purchase this book and read it on Kindle?

Amazon lets you browse more of the book and you can get a better feel for it. The E-Book you have to suggest a price, which in theory seems nice to pay what you what, but now I don't know what I'd pay. :)
