but coffeescript IS exactly javascript with a bad syntax translator. It' not a "considerably better language" it's the same language.

That's just an implementation detail. CoffeeScript has syntax and semantics every bit as valid as JS's.

I'd say the gist demonstrates that it's not Javascript. What you see is the entire runtime, compiled to naive js.

If anything, Coffeescript is "just" js with syntactic sugar. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I'm preferentially a CoffeeScript user, but for the sake of inclusivity, it really shouldn't be anything other than JavaScript.

Coffee script may compile (or transpile, depending on your preferred term) into javascript...but it isn't javascript.

I wouldn't even classify CoffeeScript as another language. It's really just javascript with some syntactical sugar. It took me about 20 mins to get comfortable with it.

What do you mean by "CoffeScript is JS"? CoffeeScript is not JavaScript. CoffeeScript compiles to JavaScript.

Really? Are you sure? If CoffeeScript isn't fully compatible with JS then what is it? I mean at some point it has to go through a JS interpreter to run.
