Moon's score written by Clint Mansell is perfect.

Here's a link to a section often used in documentaries:

Yeah, one of the most beautiful movie soundtracks ever. Sad to say there's nowhere as good composers in modern Hollywood.

Also Amadeus, and Man On The Moon.

Don't forget to mention his most transcendent movie scoring, in Powaqqatsi! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNVTmWRcUbY

A music forum I'm on did a complete re-scoring of the original film. Here's my favorite 3 minutes from the project:

Film composer here. Your description is spot-on.

I'm pretty sure "jacknews" was talking about standard cinema scores, written specifically for the movie.

I agree the score is really excellent.

Shout out to James Horner for his lovely musical score that makes the film.

What also amazes me about his music is that how even some obscure movies he scored for had really great soundtracks:

One thing I don't think anyone has mentioned so far. I really like the musical score. James Horner jumping on pianos as is his wont - but really fun music

Time by Hans Zimmer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxabLA7UQ9k

Powerful stuff. Maybe Beethoven would've been a movie composer if he was alive in the modern era.

100% agree. his scores are incredible, nothing like his music.

I saw that interview and was shocked. For me, as a music major, the soundtrack of this movie was one of the most memorable and effective parts. I can't imagine anything else inspiring quite such a sense of dread and awe.

The score was actually quite thoughtful, attempting to use rhythm and harmony and vocal style that was fitting for the universe, ie. very far removed from our current styles.

who did the musical score? John Williams ?

The score is a masterpiece though.

Look up John Williams composer. He did starwars, Indiana Jones.

Please give this a watch with an open mind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93A1ryc-WW0

I promise it's worth your time. Being honest, I fell in love with the score before I even knew it was Zimmer's, and once I found out, my first thought was "of course."

To each their own, but if you want an idea of what went into the score, that video above is insightful.

> The score, composed by Andrei Romanov of the rock band Akvarium

> In the opening song, Romanov sings a rough translation of Tolkien’s description of the origins of the rings of power,

The Soviets had their own Led Zeppelin. Perhaps we weren’t so different after all.
