"That night, you deadlift your body weight. You sneak a photo of yourself in the mirror and email it to yourself with the subject heading “You Are A Warrior”."
In perhaps the most extreme undertaking, he packed on 34 pounds of muscle while dropping 3 pounds of fat in 28 days.
I could probably gain 31 pounds in 28 days if I wanted to too... In all seriousness, I'd like to see how he measured fat vs. muscle here. These self-aggrandizing lifestyle / diet gurus tend to make a lot of claims that fall flat when subjected to any sort of peer review.
... to compete in the kickboxing nationals... I weighed in at 165, and the next day I stepped onto the platform at 193.
So in this instance, he gained over a pound an hour... Is that really possible, even if it's all water?
"That highly depends on what the 200lb is made of."
Well, he did say "jacked", so it's safe to assume it's not 200 lb of fat.
BTW, I went pretty close to that, while staying at a relatively low 12% BFP (body fat percentage). It's pretty awesome, but I can definitely see why some people would rather not go through the trouble - it's not something easy to accomplish, not if you're a cubicle slave like almost everybody these days.
> "However, to down all the calories I was drinking whipped cream during sessions, another recurring routine was to eat potato chips after dinner until I went to bed."
I thought that this was pretty hilarious. Reflected on and tested every last detail of his life, training, and circumstances — just to then smash bag after bag of potato chips all evening every evening. Love it.
>He used steroids, and was shocked to find he'd lost a couple inches in height. The doc told him it was the steroids, and even worse, he'd still lose the usual height when he aged (we all shrink as we age).
The things people believe constantly amaze me. Steroids don't make people shrink.
The guy claim himself to be a "mildly out of shape 28 year old", and then state: "I consider myself a pretty health-conscious person. No alcohol. No meat. Slow-carbs when possible. Run three miles, three times a week. Pull-ups, push-ups on the days I don’t run" which indicates he's more active than 90% of the population (I just made that stat up)
"I lost, like 27 pound."
"Oh my god, what's your secret?"
"... I had my arms ripped off."
"Oh, right."
