Shameless plug: my pinboard iOS app Pinswift is on sale today for a dollar (down from 5) to celebrate Pinboard's birthday. If you are a Pinboard fan, or are just getting started, please consider trying out the app.
If it were back in the old days, I would've charged for it upfront for $5 or so. Instead I decided to make it free to try with an in-app purchase to remove all limitations. Targetting a niche customer base that have already paid at least $22/year for a Pinboard.in subscription and are likely to be disappointed by the current offerings meant I was able to go for a more sensible price. Right now the full unlock costs $15 and includes 3 platforms (iOS, iPadOS, and macOS) with family sharing enabled.
I was able to recruit 100+ beta testers and added some much needed features before launch. Since then it has been a steady pace of one update every month or two which adds either new features, UX improvements, or bug fixes.
The app is highly rated (4.8/5 overall rating) and has a good number of loyal customers who follow me on Twitter (@GetPinsApp).
Just released my new Pinboard app for iOS 14 and macOS Big Sur called Pins. I've been looking for a good Pinboard app but most have been discontinued or rarely have any updates in the last few years. So I took the matter in my own hands and built one. Pins is free to try — give it a look if you're a happy Pinboard user like me!
Pinboard has a slowly increasing price as more users join. It was only $4.21 the day I signed up, and is now up to $9.25. I'm really glad I joined before the onslaught. :-)
Even though the main site isn’t really actively being developed anymore, the Pins for Pinboard iOS is a third-party app that is continuously getting updates and is very polished. If it weren’t for this very functional and pretty app I probably would be more annoyed.
I haven't tried pinswift, but it looks cool. The main difference with Pinnin is that you can add bookmarks to pinboard directly from Safari or any app on your iPhone with a webview, in the same way you would add a bookmark to mobile safari.
OT, but as an iOS user, I found my Pinboard usage went way up after buying the 4.99 Pinner app...I've always had a bit of trouble with bookmarklets...being able to add things via iOS actions ended up being a huge convenience for me but YMMV. http://pinnerapp.net/
Main complaint is that it's not from Maciej but the author seems committed to keeping it stable with improvements.
Would love some feedback on this. Pinnin is a simple Pinboard Client for iOS, and includes an iOS8 app extension to add bookmarks to Pinboard from any app. It's written in Swift and I plan on open sourcing sometime in the coming weeks once I get the codebase cleaned up a bit more.
I know the marketing site could use some work, but any comments on the app itself would be much appreciated!
This looks promising. I've been looking for a new Pinboard iOS client, since Pushpin started flaking out on me recently.
(I have over 17,000 bookmarks, so maybe I'm an edge case, but Pushpin has been timing out on me a lot. Maybe I should just clean up my bookmarks...)
I don't see a placeholder page at https://blog.pinboard.in/ I see the most recent blog post. It happens to be a couple years old, but Pinboard is good enough as it is. I didn't subscribe for monthly product blog posts.
Unreal. Pinboard is cool. I put down the $11 and jumped in. I think they're smart to price weirdly yet low. I did a double take at $11 and sort of laughed. Anyway, initial impression is wow pinboard is pretty cool and definitely not trying to be fancy. I like that.
