This is a completely fair point, though there are tools to help minimize it and/or to make them easier to read. I'm hoping to release something at least partly ameliorating on the subject next month.
Perhaps they can have ellipses (...) that, when moused over, describe in legal detail everything they collect, so those of us who care for the details can read more into it. But I applaud them for trying to keep it readable and short.
The tradeoff is hard to make, but at least for me, it was a right balance.
Measuring words and loc is not a great way, imho, to share what you’re doing. In fact, I’d love a much shorter set of documentation now to under and this better. Long docs will probably make it less likely to read.
Having the information normalized as you suggest would be great. Breaking it up into a ~5 point scale (especially if it took advantage of visual cues) would save some mental effort. Perhaps relative font sizes?
Totally agree. I've been meaning to do this, but I haven't quite found the time yet. Good to know it would be helpful; I'll make sure it's properly prioritized.
We'll work on improving the explaination, but the problem is that we don't want to reveal too much.
Obviously, we will have to explain it better, so we will look for just the right amount of info, that will feel comfortable for us at this stage and at the same time enough to intreague people.
thanks for calling that out, and despite my criticism upthread I have to fully agree with this - the wording can be improved but this kind of documentation is great to have!
Yeah, I agree. I understand it's probably not feasible when you have so many applications you have to sift through but highlighting key weak points would be nice.
