It has been covered by USAToday, NBC News, etc. If it's not legit, it's a reasonably elaborate hoax. Though the source always seems to be the media company in question, I guess it's still actually up in the air. But, tweets have mentioned Glen Greenwald and others who would be among the most capable of debunking it, and most likely to do so, if it's fake.

So the story and the tweets referenced in there are faked or misinformation because of what you think about the organization? [0][1]

I don't know what your point is here other than using an ad hominen to discredit this story without any counter evidence as to why this story is untrue.

No need to confirm its real, just want to be the first ones with a BREAKING STORY! I wish MSM would be held more accountable.

Is this a reliable news source? I've never heard of the site before. The URL looks like a play on abc and cbs news.

I don't think it seems that far fetched, but it does come across as being a fake story. It sadly doesn't surprise me that something like this could happen, I just question the site this is hosted on.

It was verified in the comments but the only source was a tweet which has since been deleted. I want to assume people are telling the truth but I could see this being one of those "pranks" where we find out what people are willing to believe without proof.

I don't believe this is fake, as much as I wish it was. They are still updating their Twitter and status blogs and I'd assume if it was fake, they'd see it and at least delete it. I've attempted calling and speaking with them directly through various direct extensions but no one answers.

The article and the Twitter account associated with it look fake af too.

Is there some confirmation? Looks like fake news.

I agree this is basically a work of fiction until someone can fact check all this. "A reporter stalked me on twitter" rolls eyes

They have posted new status updates regarding the service to Twitter, and left the message regarding firing Adria, so I am not sure it is a fake.

not tabloids, not a hoax, did you go on Twitter during that period? I have him blocked and saw his tweets

This might be true, but I suspect it's fictional. Someone is trolling the twitter team hard though and I'm here for it.

Based on the search results and how the copy is replicated across multiple "news" domains this story is probably a fake.

This is prospective news. How could it be fake?

I found this [1] piece of fake news more entertaining (and accurate ??). [1] https://twitter.com/GrantTucker/status/878535146709950464

Indeed, I've been hearing this is a fake that has been circulating the webs for a while now. Good to see some of the mainstream media outlet catching up with the drums

I can't find anything about this from an actual news site. Hopefully, they'll pick it up soon if it's for real.

This is a fake story.

> Veronica leads the digital news and audience team at WNYC and Gothamist, which includes breaking news, newsletters, and social, among other things.

I expect such fake stories on the front page of reddit, not HN.

Is it safe to assume NBC is being punked by this? I've seen this story roaming about the Interwebs and have assumed that it was a hoax.

Another Item: The "Official" anonymous Twitter mouthpiece claims this is fake.
