Is it hard to find remote work in Europe at the moment? Just curious, I haven't had to look, but was under the impression there ought to be a reasonable amount available.
Exactly what I was thinking. It would be a problem is companies outside Europe wouldn't let you do remote work from Europe but that doesn't seem to be the case.
How and where did you find a US remote job whilst being/remaining in the EU? I'm a bit in the same street as you (freelancer, Belgium, previous experience with remote work).
More on topic, I hear the same in Belgium, they want someone to work 24/7 basically for free and then they are surprised that the guy they hired isn't some kind of magical being that knows every language (for some reason this goes for both natural and programming languages) and framework and whatnot.
I've just started looking at the remote jobs market, as finding a remote position could be very useful in my current situation (ie, ready to leave my current position - which will require some time to find a replacement and for the handover - and to move abroad). But it looks like most of the good offers are only for US/Canada based people.
Does anybody have good experiences with finding well paid, technical remote jobs here in Europe? How did you find that?
I've thought about working remote but I've heard that unless the company is geared towards making the playing field even for remote/onsite workers you'll be having an hard time getting noticed/pulled into projects.
Might be something I'll look into if nothing I can find in the EU satisfies me.
I am from Europe as well, and did similar searching a few months back.
These are not remote jobs. If you are looking for such, you should change your job filter or check websites offering strictly such jobs.
Then there is another obstacle: timezone. There are a few remote-only jobs which require you to be on the same country or a couple timezones away (e.g. US-only). Then you need to adapt your scope to your preferred region.
I get 3-4 opportunities for freelance work per week in the Paris region. I couldn't find any proposing full remote work (not just one day per week) after searching for 2 months
The funny thing is that now I work remotely for a German company from France
