I have access to some private servers, together with friends we try new stuff or just get services working for fun (we are students). That results in some mailaccounts for me. Access over imap. I use geary and claws-mail
Mail should be considered insecure because the cert infrastructure is kind of broken. I dont know why, but for some reason mailserver's server-to-server certs are quite short. You barely get over 256/512 bit key length.
When im unmotivated, i just open some file, look around my code and somewhere i find something i really, really want to change/fix (i have tons of unfinished private projects). And thats my 'initial motivation'
Im not aware of cases where someone used my authentification without my knowledge.
And doing... never something professional.
Some scriptkiddie stuff in my younger years, expanding privileges in our school systems oder experimenting with sql injections on an (accidentally) unprotected site. Just messinf things up and try what is possible to do.
And copying the lecturers scripts from an encrypted usb drive while it was mounted (kind of trojan? just a program which does its job and removes itself).
And i used a keylogger to get access to a classmate's facebook account, and everytime he defaced someones fb (we was one of the guys checking every pc in the lab for loggin in fb accounts) i did the same to him. Im not very proud of this.
Im still in the phase of finding the ide i like.
On work, we use Eclipse with PHP extension and SVN, testing is via network mounts.
On my private laptop i prefer gedit. Project files are located in ~/Projects/<project name>/
An nginx bound to localhost is running with ~/Projects/ as docroot. An instance of php-fpm is running with my uid. mysqld, git and composer are installed.
Communication with 'production' system via ssh+keyauth.
Every method requires an entry point. Like re-flashing an device requires an uncompromised bootloader. You would need an entry point very close to the hardware.
I would say its possible, but not realistic except for very simple devices.
I thought its like that a programmer knows that he makes mistakes, and therefore takes actions to reduce the amount of mistakes. Isn't "code quality" and the nature of human implying this?
I would expect people to know the consequence of what they are doing. Am i wrong?
> if a failure is expected behavior, then you shouldn't be using exceptions
Just from the abstract view - isn't 'exception' defined as unexpected event? Or am i missing something?
And i wasn't talking about liberalism, because it just kinda translates to 'movement for freedom', which could be a lot. I doubt its even mutually exclusive with conservatism.
The generic problem on Tumblr still exists. Like those posts about romanticizing her suicide. Hate & Shame posts are still happen regularly, and people seeing gender issues in everything is something why people outside tumblr make fun of it.
Its not only about transphobia, its about how youngsters use tumblr.
While i like to see some certain sites removed, i fear that this could give google too much power of what is considered "truth" and what not. Does anyone knows good literature about such things and their implications?
I thinks its up to every persons responsibility to learn to deal with rough language. The world isn't easy, and we need to learn to deal with it contents.
I don't think "picking on the language of others" is a good start. What about the people starving right now in less developed countries? And the homelessness problem? Companies doing serious damage to the environment? And we both are just sitting here discussing language on the Internet. I think you are not in the Position to talk about a better world as excuse for political over-correctness.
Language is a different shoe from what we actually do. HN is not a good place for this, drop me a mail on nero@icvn.de if you are further interested in discussion.
I'd also expect to be thrown out when i appear for an interview in "provocative" clothing, regardless of sex/gender. How is this special? And why is it turned into an sexism issue?
This was already posted and downvoted for given reasons.
Would a man in her situation be rejected? The answer is yes. Welcome to the real world, getting a job is still a hard thing and not a gender issue. Have a nice day.
Beside, what the western world induced in the middle east destroyed far more living space (not to mention the fatalities). I'd think that would be a better point to work on.
