Lenovo has at least introduced a bunch of AMD laptops in the Thinkpad lineup this year. T495, X395, E595, E495 at least. These correspond to T490, X390, E590 and E490 which come with Intel CPU.

I desperately want an AMD laptop with the latest architech, the battery gains are amazing from what I saw in the conference.

I've held back buying an Acer swift for this reason alone.

You'll have a while to wait. Ryzen 3xxx APU and mobile chips use zen+ on 12nm. Zen 3 launches early next year, so you'll probably have to wait until then for zen 2 mobile chips.
