Hey HackerNews, it's been a while!
Resoume is a platform where you can create a beautiful website, portfolio and resume for your next job interview. It is also the biggest project I worked on as a solo frontend developer with joy, love, sweat and tears
I have been working on for a bit over a year now. You may know the last post from me (or not).
It started as a resume builder but the bigger picture I had in mind was a platform to build your online presence for the job search.
Here are some of the new features:
- 14 New Beautifully Designed Templates
- A Personal Website Builder
- Analytics For Your Online Applications And Website
- Job Board
- CNAME and A Record Support
- White-Label Solution For Companies
I love to work on Resoume and I think you can tell by just looking at it.
Recently I was thinking if it might make sense to offer an API where other people/businesses could use Resoume to create resumes.
If this product is really good the ‘advertising’ should be the founder’s profile, or a gallery of several interesting profiles (fully functioning, not resume screenshots).
Nothing else.
Your current marketing site gives me zero experience of your product. Which is a marketing site!
Came to say something very similar. While having a prominent call to action button makes sense, the call to action is basically ALL I see when I land on an iPhone. There’s 0 chance I will click a button without some enticement as to what the service is about.
And given that it’s a site aimed at helping you sell yourself or your work to people, then the first thing we would want to see is a very compelling sales pitch.
E.g., make the site a resume for itself. “See how beautifully this site is being sold to you? Imagine doing that for yourself / your stuff!”
That also does the trick! However, not everyone knows how to create a GitHub profile. And if you are not a developer, it might be a bit weird to send a GitHub profile :D
