Is there any precedent of courts mandating an internet company to reinstate a user account?

It's certainly something that has been requested before [0][1], though I cannot find a case of it occurring, it does appear to be a possibility. ("Any reason" in a ToS has legal limitations.)

It seems to be something that is often requested through highly varying different laws (contract violations, business fraud, etc.), and not any particular avenue, so actual precedent probably won't apply across the board in anything.

It's happened in 2019 in Germany, to Facebook.

There have been recent cases regarding Twitter bans too.

I'm not sure that the actions of a German court are particular relevant to the US courts, however.

You're not sure. But you can think about it and form an opinion.

Try writing a few paragraphs under the headline "Some reasons why Facebook would accept instructions to reinstate users from courts in some countries, but not from courts in others" and see if the act of writing helps you either support or weaken the headline.

His Twitter account disappearing had such a drastically positive impact on my day-to-day well being.

Not having to hear the news constantly discuss every.little.inane.thing he said... what a relief!

His comments have no place being part of our public discourse, and every time the media commented on them it gave them weight they didn't deserve.
