Paywalled so I didn't get to read the article.

I do think that open source devs will eventually swing away from licenses resembling MIT and back to GPL. In my preference, AGPL.

Open source devs get nothing by producing code under commercial-friendly licenses like MIT except 'popularity', but that popularity can feel hollow. I feel great producing GPL code, even if no one ever uses it, because I know if someone does use it they will be giving back to the community.
