So the answer for me is, I am not sure. I have a Oculus 2 and often "log in" and check it out. I use it primarily for entertainment purposes (like visiting world cities etc.). But I haven not have not purchased anything in the meta verse. Is that considered hanging out in meta verse or is that just old-fashioned VR?
My point is it is not clear to me what is meta verse and if it is supposed to be different from VR. I would love to read what other write about their experiences.
No. The commercialization of our public spaces in the real world is bad enough already, there's no way I'm opting into a commercialized-by-default virtual world to waste my time in.
I work on my farm, study music, am developing a new product, and enjoy actual conversations with my trophy wife and amazing kids IRL. No time for “hanging out in the metaverse”, which sounds depressing AF.
The trophy wife comment is weird. You could have just said wife but with just that one added word now I am confused by your sentence. Normally people use that phrase to describe a hot young lady a rich guy is married to usually as a second marriage who is less of a partner and more of a purchase? I've never heard anyone who wasn't flagging a hotwifing fetish say something like that. This is a strange forum for that. You could get her 3D scanned and put her in a trophy room on the metaverse?
Well congrats! No one here knows your inside joke though so I had to speculate on the weirdness of it. I'm glad you're happy and avoiding the metaverse. It sounds like a slice of heaven.
Yes - mostly VRChat but other good ones when I can find them (usually custom maps for other games). I find the hangouts to be amazing about 40% of the time and I'm actively trying to build more spaces people can socialize in.
I've met some interesting and unusual people in VR.
I don't consider VR Chat to be part of the "metaverse." I only consider Facebook's (as yet mostly nonexistent) VR hype fantasy the "metaverse" since they appropriated the term for marketing purposes, and it wasn't a part of common parlance for anyone except maybe fans of Snow Crash until Facebook started pushing it. Now Facebook owns the term and it's dead to me.
I prefer real world. I do hope all the annoying, self absorbed narcissist type people go and live in metaverse though. Would be awesome to finally live in a selfie free real world, just livin.
