I've no irons in the fire here but it seems to me Elon sees the 'factory & cattle' model of business as preferred over other arrangements - that in software development doesn't necessarily hold.
There are many extremely successful software development companies - often free/libre open-source software based - where remote working is almost 100% and those people are engaged, self-motivated, and probably better contributors as a result (not least due to a self-defined work-life-family balance).
"Mr Musk has been on the record as having a dim view of remote work, writing on the site he now owns earlier this year that "all the Covid stay-at-home stuff has tricked people into thinking that you don't actually need to work hard. Rude awakening inbound!"
What is his obsession with not allowing people to WFH? It's been proven that WFH doesn't reduce productivity and brings many other benefits.
Is this just about control - micro manager mindset?
We know that's not what it is, so apparently Musk genuinely doesn't believe in remote work.
I'm very curious who will stay at Twitter and why.
