I think iOS users would disagree - if there was no demand for these APIs, there wouldn't be users using them in the first place and API creep wouldn't be an issue. But it seems that, for whatever reason, on iOS there is an incredible demand for like-native experiences that don't leverage Apple's first-party APIs.
Maybe, just maybe... if the native app experience was closer to Mac or Windows then users wouldn't feel the need to use their browser like a native runtime. Crazy, I know!
