I used to follow along ubuntu development pretty closely, being excited about each release. Now nearly 20 years on from the original release of Warty Warthog, they've really earned my trust with LTS releases in particular. I've never had an issue with a server running an LTS release that wasn't an issue with the provider, not the software.

Nowadays, I rarely even check the updates to them. When I spin up a server the latest LTS is just my default.

Ubuntu feels less interesting now that they screwed up LXD.

They still have non-FOSS drivers and multipass going for them, but nowadays Debian feels like a better and much cleaner option.

how are a single project's upstream dev and downstream distro (with tens of thousands of those) correlated?

I actually think the fork is much healthier for upstream, to get into more distros.

Because a lot of my work happens in containers and VMs and Ubuntu used to have the best (for me) solution.

First thing after install Disable and purge snap

Why not install an Ubuntu spin that doesn't distribute snap?

I did, ran popos for instance... But have some issues with waydroid on rhat
