Likely HDMI 1.4, 24fps @ 4k, 30fps @ UHD. Interestingly the new Apple TVs hardware is capable of 4k even though it does not currently "support it" (HDMI 1.4, and A8 with can play 4k)

It is 4K on an Apple TV. At least it looks like it :-D

4K.

4k TV is 26.52 Gbps at 16:9 aspect ratio, 100fps.

It's a samsung tv and supports 4k at 4:4:4 60hz if I recall correctly.

The old ATV 4k model already supports 4k at 60fps. The only improvement is that it supports HDR 4k content at 60 fps.

From the old spec page [0]:

   H.264/HEVC SDR video up to 2160p, 60 fps, Main/Main 10 profile
HEVC Dolby Vision (Profile 5)/HDR10 (Main 10 profile) up to 2160p
And the new spec page [1]:

   H.264/HEVC SDR video up to 2160p, 60 fps, Main/Main 10 profile
HEVC Dolby Vision (Profile 5)/HDR10 (Main 10 profile) up to 2160p, 60 fps

It's 4k.

AFAIK HDR is in the current 4k apple tv.

That's UHD. 4K is defined as 4096px wide. But I guess the mass adoption of the term 4K in consumer electronics changed the definition.

HDMI 2.0 does 4k@60.

I think it doesn't support more than HDMI 1.4, which means 30Hz @ 4k.

I looked at 4K TVs recently, and if you look through the advertising they're all 4K at 30hz (ie, totally worthless for viewing anything on) due to the limitations of HDMI 1.4.

4K is 2160p. Digital theater 4K is 4096x2160 but UHDTV 4K is 3840x2160.

8K is 4320p. UHD 8K is 7680×4320.

8k AND 120fps. I think the proposal is 8K@60, 4K@120.

More details about the spec are here: http://www.hdmi.org/manufacturer/hdmi_2_1/index.aspx

Looks like it maxes out at 4k@120Hz

rpi 4 HDMI can't do 4K120. I'm looking for a relatively new piece of hardware. Recent Apple TVs have the PHY for it but it isn't enabled in software.

Also, Apple's decode engine struggles with 4K60. The right answer is likely a full-on mini-PC, but it feels like a sledgehammer for a fly.

"H.264?H.265???4K@30?/?". 4k@30fps
