The Notes update looks great! I use Notes for shopping lists and also to store passwords/personal info - so the TouchID security feature is nice.

Another native iOS app I use a lot is Reminders - great for appointments and todo reminders (like calling someone back). It would be great to see if that got a bit of an upgrade.

iOS notes app is very good.

Sounds interesting. I'd like to jot down important notes from time to time. However, I have a couple of concerns: 1) I'm accustomed to using Apple Notes and 2) What about security? I'm hesitant to trust highly sensitive information to a new app

Thanks for the feedack! I do agree, notes are extremely personal. We will be updating the security section in the course of this week. We are also experimenting with end-to-end encryption, that most note-taking tools lack.

This looks pretty nicely done, and that it could be a nice note app. Tagging + version history are pretty nice features to have in a Note app, and I like that this is a lot lighter weight than Evernote or OneNote. I use OneNote for everything for work, and some things for home/personal projects, but I'd rather just have another, dedicated, lighter-weight solution for home/personal stuff (and I don't love Evernote), so I'm excited about this.

I just bought the iOS & OS X versions to play around with, and I have three suggestions, if I may be so bold:

- When quitting & reopening Note, I'd love to see my last few notes automatically reopened (whatever notes I had open before I closed the app) and positioned where they were. Kind of like Stickies.

- Make the screenshots of the apps more prominent in some way on your landing page, and make the feature descriptions (e.g., under "Editing History, Multiple Tags, iCloud sync" more readable).

- Ditch the black "LKMAKE" splash screen on the iOS version; it's jarring to go from a full black screen to a full white screen when an app starts up.

And a bug report :)

- I don't see notes from OS X syncing over to iOS, or vice versa. iCloud is enabled for Note on both iOS and OS X, so something doesn't seem to be working right here.

And finally, a crazy idea that I would totally pay extra for:

- Ability to add notes to Note from the command line. Seriously. I would love to be able to do this from my terminal:

note "Buy bread" -tags home, groceries

I know you can't integrate with iCloud outside of iOS/OS X App Store apps, but I think you could build this pretty easily by having some backend web service that notes get sent to, and when your iOS/OS X app starts up, it just downloads new notes and adds them into the app, so it appears like a normal sync. Hell, I'd be willing to build the backend for you.

Nice job and good luck!

Notes app (native to iOS & OS X)

Same, I extensively use both Notes and Reminder apps as they work pretty good nowadays.

I also use notes and reminders. They're simple and reliable and I can easily add reminders via Siri. I've tried OneNote, Evernote, and I've paid for reminders apps but they're all unnecessarily complicated for my needs. I found myself spending too much time trying to figure out how to use the third party apps most effectively and fiddling with configuration. Finally realized that simpler is better for my needs.

We've been able to lock notes in the Notes app for a while either with a password or Touch/FaceID.

The new Apple Notes app does all this beautifully.

I'm so happy to see Notes getting attention and new features. Since the update to support attachments and basic text formatting, it has become my digital notebook of choice. I basically use it for everything, from todo and shopping list, to collecting images about a topic, planning trips, work notes, and many more.

Notes has many features that I considered well implemented: a simple interface, native integration with the OS including sharing from and to the app, seamless iOS & OSX syncing over iCloud, decent search, PDF export.

I hope Apple keeps investing in it adding relevant, useful features, but without allowing it to become too big, like it happened to Evernote.

Another notes app...?

Great work! Can you share more about the native apps? I’m looking for something native, lean and quick – similar to apple notes.

Good to see Notes with a lock (fingerprint). It would be great if Apple decided to add fingerprint app locks as a feature for any app that one may want.

Notes app. Pretty similar to Evernote but simpler in some ways. Nothing ground-breaking.

Apple Notes is my go to.

Plenty of great new features, but the core is still snappy and easy to use.

Been using Apple Notes for 8 years now and can't imagine using any other tool at this point. Everything else is too complicated and with distracting thrills, or is too barebones. Notes is the perfect balance, and I like that the notes can be totally offline.

The only thing that needs improvement is the search function.

EDIT: Another thing I really like about Notes is how notes can be password protected, which includes full encryption, and they can be unlocked with your fingerprint. If the user doesn't interact with the app for a few minutes, the notes automatically relock themselves. This is great for journaling because I can be confident that the more candid thoughts I express won't be accidentally read by anyone.
